CEO of Time Medical gives an invited talk on medical imaging innovation at the Silicon Valley Global Innovation and Future Technology Summit (GIFTs)

On December 14th, the Fifth Global Innovation and Future Technology Summit is held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley. The theme of this year summit is: Future Technology and Medical Outlook. The conference attracted about 500 people online and offline. Industrial leaders, VC fund partners, entrepreneurs and other professional elites from Silicon Valley, Boston, Germany, Israel, India, South Africa, etc. were invited to present in the conference. Including Two Turing Award winners, professors from top universities such as Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and UC Berkeley, as well as the founder of Global Health Impact Fund. The topic of the conference is focused on the development of health industry in the post-epidemic era, including artificial intelligence medicine, future medical technology, and healthcare investment trends.

Keynote speakers of the Summit include Professor Rosenblatt, the former executive VP and chief medical officer of Merck, he is also the director of the Harvard-MIT Medical Science and Technology Division; Dr. Uzzaman, founder of Pegasus Tech Venture; and  Professor Fitzgerald, professor of Stanford University School of Medicine and founder of Triventures Fund.

In his speech, Professor Rosenblatt repeatedly emphasized "Don't kill the idea too early", as the innovative ideas of the biomedical industry are difficult to be accepted by the peers at first.

Dr. Uzzanan has invested in more than 200 global startup companies including SpaceX, Airbnb, 23andMe, Doordash, and Gojek. He pointed out three major technology trends in 2022: 1) Metaverse, more than 90 companies in the US have invested in it; 2) NFT (Non-Fungible Token), NFT sales in the third quarter of this year increased by 8 times, reaching USD10.7 billion; 3 ) Robots are widely used in manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture.

Professor Fitzgerald is a serial entrepreneur and has co-foundered 24 medical device companies in San Francisco Bay Area, 18 of which have been listed or acquired. He emphasized that the future medical and health trends are AI and Big Data, and leading American technology companies such as FAAG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, and Google) are actively participating.

At the invitation of the conference organizer Silicon Valley Zhongguancun Venture Capital (ZGC), Professor Q. Y. Ma, Chairman and CEO of Time Medical, gave a speech on "Innovation and Future of Medical Imaging" at the Summit.

In his speech, Professor Ma focused on “Imaging in Community” of the post-epidemic era. During the epidemic, online healthcare consultations in the US have increased by 38 times, while routine hospital visits have dropped by 80%. Mobile medical diagnosis has become a new trend, which requires the use of artificial intelligence reading and tele-imaging diagnosis data platform technology. Time Medical is partnering with Harvard School of Public Health and others to initiate a global medical diagnosis service project. The goal is to provide advanced, affordable, and accessible (3A) digital diagnostic services to the community worldwide.

In terms of imaging system innovation, Professor Ma introduced the industry's latest development of miniaturized and specialized diagnostic imaging systems. Including innovative products such as mobile MR for operating rooms, pediatric MR for neonatal intensive care units, and breast MR for breast cancer screening in communities. Finally, Professor Ma introduced the technological breakthroughs in neuroimaging: the next generation of ultra-high field (9.4T~14T) MR with the goal to observe a single neuron alive, and to explore the mechanism and treatment of stroke and Alzheimer. In his conclusion remark, Professor Ma pointed out that the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) with real image data will be the Future of Medical Imaging!

During the summit, Professor Ma also accepted a special interview with the Silicon Valley media. Time Medical executives Johnson Chong and Alec Leung also attended the event.
